"Voluptuous bosoms will heave a sigh of relief when they cross the threshold of specialist lingerie shop Perfect Fit. Manager Liz Reynolds opened the premises in March 2004 and aims to serve women frustrated by the A to D monopoly of lingerie sections and stick sizes AA to JJ. "There was a huge gap in the market for larger cup sizes. We cater for all, but smaller sizes can be found anywhere, whereas women looking for larger sizes are more restricted." she explains.

Situated in the rapidly changing area close to the Clyde, where the prospect of finding even a decent kebab shop looks slim, it rewards a stroll off the regular shopping thoroughfare. The shop has a boudoir style, with a black leather couch, ambient music from an unseen stereo and two large walk-in changing rooms. "Setting up on my own is something I've always wanted to do, it was just a matter of getting enough bottle to do it," says Liz who worked in the lingerie department of of Frasers for 10 years. Using that experience, she reckons that nine out of 10 women wear the wrong bra size. So the first thing any potential customer is offered is a fitting. Glance about for measuring tapes however, and there are none. "I can measure someone by the eye and then it's just a matter of small adjustments. Bras are like shoes, you need to try each one on. You can buy three bras and, even if they're the same make, you might need three different sizes."

Bra sets and basques are by Fantasie, Passoinata, Gossard and Panache. Styles range from functional white Berlei bras to pretty turquoise sets from Freya. A purple and beige-spotted balconette bra, and a gold and dark red lace number with delicate straps by Panache, are prooving particularly popular. Liz also has an intriguing stock of what she calls gadgets. Happy Straps keep wayward straps from constantly sliding down, while bra back extenders, in two and three hook styles allow a little breathing space without having to fork out for new undies. When an outfit doesn't allow for a bra, Liz recommends skin-coloured re-usable Magic Cups or Flash Tape, for sizes A - D and Braza Bra, essentially a cup-shaped Elastoplast, for sizes up to F. Every quandary has a solution it seems.

"Women come here and for the first time find a bra that fits and are so happy they buy four. It's immensely satisfying," says Liz.
